What is Business by the Book?

The first Wednesday of every month is Business By The Book, where people from the business community come to be inspired and empowered by amazing leaders who fearlessly share their triumphs and tribulations and how their faith in God has positively impacted their personal and business lives. It’s a great place to connect with others over a quick lunch while getting equipped by some of the best leaders in the marketplace. Everyone is welcome.

Dr. Peter Chung: Founder of Primacorp Ventures Inc.

Peter Chung is a Vancouver-based entrepreneur with over 30 years of global experience in the fields of education, commerce, industry and real estate, and currently employs over 1,700 people. Dr. Chung received his education from UCLA, Pepperdine University, California Polytechnic State University, Stanford University and Harvard University in the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and Business Administration and Management. In 2003, Dr. Chung received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters for his contribution to human welfare, and in 2007 he was appointed Paraguay’s Honorary Counsel to Canada. Dr. Chung currently serves on the boards of Pepperdine University, Trinity Western University, and Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Chung’s humanitarian and charitable works include supporting and serving on the boards of Power to Change, Global Connections International, the Great Commission Foundation, International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, and Coram Deo Foundation. In 2008, through Lift Up Canada, Dr. Chung donated over a thousand scholarships for inner-city children to pursue post-secondary education. In 2008, he established the Joseph Chung Scholarship Fund at Regent College in addition to the Joseph Chung Endowments at Pepperdine University and Trinity Western University to assist those pursuing higher education in the field of special education.

Dr. Chung founded Primacorp Ventures Inc., a conglomerate of schools and health care facilities, to contribute to society by changing lives through education, service and care. Primacorp owns private post-secondary educational institutions under six brands throughout North America, with 42 campuses in operation and 15,000 student enrollments per annum.  Primacorp also owns an independent and assisted living facility. This facility is unique in that it provides cultural-specific living environments with a focus on the local Korean-Canadian community as well as the general population at large. In addition, the real estate division of Primacorp owns and manages commercial property of over one million square feet throughout North America.

Dr. Chung has recently received the prestigious Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (Canada) in 2012 and the President’s Volunteer Service Award (USA) in 2013 in recognition for his community work. In 2014 he founded a not-for-profit organization called Joe’s Table Society in order to provide meaningful employment to those with disabilities in our communities. Under Joe’s Table Society, three coffee shops (Joe’s Table Café) have been launched in Vancouver, Canada and Seoul, South Korea. This venture was conceived in honor of Dr. Chung’s late son Joseph Chung, who suffered from autism throughout his life. Joe’s Table will continue to expand throughout the world, giving more opportunities to those with disabilities. In 2013, Dr. Chung was featured on “Global Success Story,” a prominent documentary viewed by over 10 million people which was aired by Korea’s major broadcasting network, the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS).
