The season of Advent is celebrated by Christians around the world as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Jesus at Christmas.  In Advent, we’re reminded of how much we ourselves also need a Savior, and we look forward to our Savior’s second coming even as we prepare to celebrate his first coming at Christmas.

The word “Advent” comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “coming” or “visit.” The major theme of advent is waiting, which is typically quite counter cultural.  This year the Carey Institute invites you to pause in the middle of the season to give space to the Christ Child and to prepare your heart for His birth.  Inspiration and transformation await.
