LJ Mounteney is a versatile singer whose style is diverse. She sings jazz, blues, pop, R&B, and big band swing and incorporates it all into her performances. In 2015 she was a featured guest artist on Van Django’s Christmas album Cool Yule along with harmonica virtuoso Keith Bennett. LJ has toured with the group three Christmas seasons and is returning for a fourth tour in 2017. In 2016 she released her first solo cd Here in the Dark, a showcase of a wide variety of genres including her original song which is the title track. LJ is also a big R&B and Soul fan and is the lead female vocalist in Top City, an 11 piece band with a powerful horn section emulating big bands such as Earth Wind & Fire and Blood Sweat and Tears.

Accompanying LJ at Jazz Vespers will be Jon Roper, guitar: Jon’s versatility as both a guitarist and a bassist lead him to be one of the busiest musicians in Vancouver. He performs with a wide range of pop and jazz artists including Buchman Coe, Alan Matheson, Alita Dupray and Jennifer Hayes. Jon’s playing integrates infectious grooves with superfluous melodies sprinkled with a healthy dose of improvisation;

Gabriel Mark Hasselbach, trumpet/flute/flugel horn: Gabriel is the recipient of many music awards including a Juno and Canadian Smooth Jazz award. He has played with top musicians including Michael Bublé, Dee Daniels, Gino Vanelli, Long John Baldry and Jeff Lorber;

James Meger, upright bass: Since returning to Vancouver from McGill, James Meger has been in demand as a live and session player due to his precise playing and incredible feel. He’s performed with Bruno Hubert, Jaclyn Guillou and Peggy Lee.
