Church Revitalization Event with Rev. Dr. John Pentland

Come experience the nine “R” letter words that explore good religion. This is a chance to explore what matters most when we live in a time of abundant bad religion. What is good religious practice ? This workshop is sponsored by the Hugh and Helen Mogensen Fund for Church Revitalization.

John Pentland received his theological training at Emmanuel College at Queen’s (M.Div), Princeton University (MATS) and Chicago Theological Seminary (D.Min). John moved to Alberta in 1988 to serve in a rural charge with the United Church of Canada for 4 years. After his stint in rural ministry, John then served for 10 years in an urban setting, after which time he left the ministry to work for the Calgary United Way for 3 years. He made his way back into ministry with the UCC 10 years ago when he accepted the call to lead the congregation of Hillhurst United Church in Calgary, a charge which has seen the church grow from approximately 75 parishioners to a current membership of around 450. John currently serves on the Board of Directors for VST.
