“To journey without being changed is to be a nomad. To change without journeying is to be a chameleon. To journey and be transformed by the journey is to be a pilgrim.”

~Mark Nepo, The Exquisite Risk (2005)

Are you yearning for time away with God but unable to go on an extended pilgrimage? Why not choose a pilgrimage close to home? With a backdrop of picturesque Kingfisher Farm, come and explore walking the labyrinth as a Christian spiritual practice. Labyrinth Prayer is a contemplative spiritual discipline based on the ancient practice of pilgrimage. Join us, as pilgrims, for a facilitated day retreat offering worship, instruction, periods of silent prayer on the Labyrinth as well as on nature trails, reflection through the creative arts and small group sharing.

FACILITATORS:

Janet Scott is a Spiritual Director and Veriditas-trained Labyrinth Facilitator with a passion for facilitating retreats, leading contemplative prayer services and providing spiritual companioning to elderly shut-ins. Since retiring from her career as a speech-language pathologist, she has enjoyed seeing the world through the eyes of her seven grandchildren, exploring Celtic spirituality through pilgrimages in Ireland and Scotland, taking photographs as a contemplative practice, singing in her church choir and practicing yogic prayer.

Brent Unrau is enlivened by mixing his vocational passions of counselling, offering spiritual direction and running his creative arts business, Pastiche Art, into a sort of rich, fun summer salad. He is also grateful for his journey of living in intentional community at Kingfisher Farm in South Surrey. He is getting close to 35 years in the deep, life-giving waters of marriage to Denise and can’t get enough of his new granddaughter Emma Reay.

Roland Balzer, a new retiree, is savouring the legacy of his work teaching children, pastoring two congregations and accompanying seniors as their chaplain. As recent newcomers to the Kingfisher Farm community, he and Maryanne enjoy living in a suite right next to their daughter, son-in-law and two grandkids. He welcomes his relationship with the Holy One in ordinary places of beauty, loss, friendship and pain.
