New Music from Taizé

The Taize songbook has, last edition I saw, 153 different chants in scores of languages. This workshop will be a hands on opportunity for choirs, church musicians and those wanting to use Taize music in worship. We will have a Taize songbook available for the music we are going to use in the gatherings on September 28th.

At the workshop we will learn and practice about a dozen or so new chants that have proven very popular in Taizé.  They will be familiar to anyone who has gone to Taizé and we will have English translations to sing.

We hope that some of the people at the workshop will come to the regional evening prayer and be a “scattered” choir at the Taizé evening prayer. The idea is that people will gather in “nodes” to sing together, and disperse throughout St. Andrews-Wesley to help support the singing. Those who can read music and sing parts will have the opportunity to learn the parts.

We hope to post the song book in late August here on this page. We will also announce it on the Taize Vancouver facebook page. Please “like” us on facebook to get updates and links to the music, and along with them, links to Youtube videos where you can hear the music.
