On April 11th join us for a day of learning, sharing stories and developing strategies to create climate justice.
- How can we as congregations help put an end to fossil fuel dependence?
- How does climate change affect our local and global communities?
- How do we go beyond efficient lightbulbs and re-usable grocery bags to make a lasting and deep change? If these are questions you wrestle with then this event is for you!
The day will include keynotes from Greg Powell, a United Church minister who spearheaded the divestment campaign at Trinity St. Paul’s United Church in Toronto and from Christine Boyle, the director of ‘Spirited Social Change’ and ‘Fossil Free Faith: Canada’s Interfaith Divestment Network.’

1. Energy Self-Sufficiency at Camp Fircom: Learn about Fircom’s installation of solar panels, and their hope to also install run-of-river power, to reduce or eliminate dependence on the import of diesel fuel from the mainland. Learn how you can help Fircom achieve this, and how you can undertake similar steps in your church or your home.

2. Environmentally Friendly Redevelopment: How can your church “live with respect in creation” — whether in planning re-development, or renovating, or simply in your day-to-day operations? Hear from some churches who are making environmentally friendly changes, and join an open discussion on how you can move forward……

3. “Who Am I?”: a conversation about alternatives to our consumer identity. This workshop will be a lively discussion of the ways we sometimes feel trapped by our consumer driven culture and how we break free of it.
