The second concert of Ryerson’s Sundays at 3 recital series on February 26th showcases organist Gerald Harder in a concert featuring the works of Robert Hebble, John Cook, and Dieterich Buxtehude. Robert Hebble is renowned as a colorist – a composer whose conception of beauty finds variety in harmony the way an artist mixes colour.
For over thirty years, Robert’s career was closely linked with the great organist Virgil Fox, who appointed Robert as his assistant at the age of sixteen at New York’s Riverside Church. The final work on the program A symphony of light was the premier organ composition commissioned in memory of Virgil Fox.
