Pope Francis describes compassion as “the just response to the immense value of the sick person.” He stressed that compassion is a necessary part of the medical profession.
This workshop will help parishioners and those working with the sick to answer questions about the Christian meaning of suffering, the request for assisted suicide and the dying process.
Through personal anecdotes and real life experiences, Sr. Catherine Mary, FSE will discuss ways of helping people deal with their emotional and spiritual needs especially when it comes to questions of assisted suicide and dying. Sr. Catherine will also touch on bereavement support for hospice families through an interactive workshop that addresses the psychosocial needs of those facing end of life.
Our Presenter: Sister Catherine Mary Clarke, a Franciscan Sister of the Eucharist, is a Spiritual and Bereavement Counsellor. She is the Director of Social Services at the Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care in Meriden, Connecticut and holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a license in clinical social work.
