Speaker: Steven P. Millies, Ph.D.
Rising nationalism and populist political movements around the globe have disturbed the comfortable certainty we once enjoyed that some of the ugly political past has been overcome. The Earth, itself, seems to have been broken by our thoughtlessness about the future and one another. Amid the turmoil, Pope Francis invites us to dream of a different way that begins simply enough, in how we interact with one another. From simple beginnings, we can change our politics and our world.
Dr. Steven P. Millies is associate professor of public theology and director of The Bernardin Center at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. His most recent book isĀ Good Intentions: A History of Catholic Voters’ Road from Roe to Trump (Liturgical Press, 2018).
