So much gorgeous music has been composed in celebration of Christmas, especially settings of familiar sacred texts. For instance, the number of composers throughout time who have set the text “Christus natus est” to music is easily in the hundreds.

This Christmas, Vivaldi Chamber Choir is amplifying the voices of black, living, and female composers with our program, “Noël: blanc et noir”. The program features incredible works by Zanaida Robles, B.E. Boykin, Nathaniel Dett, Mark Miller, Christopher Ducasse, Adolphus Hailstork and Rosephanye Powell – all works that were new to our choir.

Balancing the program are some iconic choral treasures from John Rutter, Zoltán Kodály, Morten Lauridsen and others – creating a moving choral tribute to the hopes and dreams of the Christmas season.

One show only – in the beauty of Pacific Spirit United Church (NO digital release)
