From November 30 – December 12, 2023, the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) will be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
COP28 is the latest Conference of the Parties (COP), the group of nations that forged the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 1992. This framework set out to address levels of global warming that were becoming increasingly more dangerous to planetary health. The Conference of the Parties (COP) meets annually to discuss ways to address the global climate crisis.
Those least responsible for the carbon emissions that cause climate change are the ones being most impacted: young people, Indigenous communities, and communities in the Global South, and these are the ones who need to be driving the change that’s needed.
This global conference can serve as an important catalyst for leaders and communities of faith to pray, learn and act for climate justice.
The theme of COP 28 is Unite. Act. Deliver. Let’s help this be so.
