1. Starting Well – Common Legal Issues in a Hiring Process – Brayden Volkenant
Finding a good candidate can be a challenge, especially for non-profit organizations, which often leads to a rushed or careless hiring process. Most legal issues in hiring can be minimized or completely avoided with adequate due diligence and a basic understanding of your obligations as an organization, including general employment, privacy and human rights principles. This session will walk through a typical hiring process to highlight some common legal issues, and provide you with practical suggestions for minimizing or preventing these issues in your hiring process.
2. Critical Conversations in Employee Feedback – Jennifer Hill
Stop avoiding difficult or unpleasant conversations and learn how to provide feedback to employees that will empower them to develop their full potential. Build greater trust by having important conversations framed in a constructive way.
3. The ‘Heartbeat’ of Your Organization – Volunteer Best Practices – Brayden Volkenant
Volunteers are often a critical component and resource for your organization. This session will include a discussion about what constitutes a volunteer and what are some best practices, including agreements and policies, your non-profit or charity should consider implementing to protect the organization and the volunteer, and ensure a healthy and beneficial working relationship.
4. Keys to Building a High Performance Team – Jeff Pitchford & Mark Kraft
In today’s competitive employment environment, you may find that you have to do more with less. Attracting, building and retaining a high performance team is key to your organization’s impact and applies to your boards, volunteers and staff.
