The Faculty Speaker Series is launching its first edition, which aims to celebrate innovative research by TWU researchers.
The featured speaker for the October edition is Dr. Tracy Stobbe, who is an Associate Professor of Economics.
In this edition, the speaker will delve into the topic of whether writers in the 18th and 19th centuries were realistic in their portrayal of the state of the economy. Many scholars have observed a negative bias toward the “businessman” during this era, depicting them as calculating, greedy, and unfeeling. However, the speaker will also explore whether there was a bias toward economic changes as a whole using a data-driven technique.
The event is open to students, faculty, and staff and will take place in the Glass room in the Library. Light refreshments will be served.
