BIO
Jared’s career has criss-crossed several times between academia and industry. He spent several years working in the clean energy and green tech sectors until transitioning into fully into academia.
He completed his PhD in biological chemistry at the University of California before returning to Vancouver to conduct post-doctoral research in the Science of Teaching and Learning at the University of British Columbia. Since then, he has taught undergraduate courses at UBC in the areas of biology, biochemistry, and microbiology.
More recently, Jared began serving as the Academic Integrity Program Manager within UBC’s Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic. In this role, he promotes academic integrity throughout the student community at UBC and beyond. Jared also works directly with students to resolve incidents of academic misconduct. While focussing on both academic integrity and teaching, Jared continues to apply his passion for student learning and his compassion for students who are struggling during their time at university.
