Move about the Program:
The first part of Messiah is titled ‘Nativity’. In this set of orchestral music, solos and chorus, Handel skillfully presents various biblical themes, including the comfort in darkness, the prophecy of the Savior’s birth, the scene of the shepherds in the fields, and the joy and blessings brought by the Savior. ‘Hallelujah’ is one of the most famous piece in choral repertoire. With its grandeur and majestic style, it evokes a profound sense of reverence and leaves an unforgettable impression.
Our selection of sacred music includes three wonderful arrangements of traditional Christmas carols that are familiar to all. These melodies include ‘Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus’ arranged by Dan Forrest, ‘Christmas Day in the Morning’ arranged by Larry Shackley, and ‘O Holy Night’ composed by Adolphe Adam. In addition to all these classics, we also have included two Chinese works ‘Because of Love’ and ‘Last Forever’. Both pieces portray God’s profound love and prompt the audience to respond in commitment and adoration.
VOS Chamber Choir will perform Howard Helvey’s serene composition, ‘O Lux Beatissima’ and David Willcocks’ arrangement of ‘Ding Dong! Merrily on High,’ brimming with a lively and cheerful atmosphere.
Our Wish:
Under the baton of Kemuel Wong, our principal conductor, VOS hopes that this winter, we can share beautiful music with you and also reflect on the joy and hope brought by the birth of our Savior, Jesus. May God’s gift of music enable us to embrace this year’s Christmas with faith and face new challenges in this turbulent era with confidence.
