Open your heart to the mystery and wonder of the Advent season. Take part in Advent Lessons & Carols, a candlelit, music-filled service designed to help you start your journey toward Christmas.
Advent Lessons and Carols is a unique service in the Anglican church. It consists of bible readings—lessons—interspersed with advent hymns. The readings foretell the birth of Jesus, Light of the World.
Christ Church Cathedral and the Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Rupert Lang, present Advent Lessons and Carols as an offering to the whole Vancouver community. Whether you’re simply a lover of choral music, or seeking deeper meaning during this season, you are welcome to take part in this service which is one of the highlights of the Advent season.
About the Cathedral Choir: Consisting of a mix of 27 talented volunteers and 8 paid singers, the Cathedral Choir has a remarkably large and varied repertoire. The main function of the choir is to celebrate the Sunday morning Eucharist through hymns, psalms, motets, along with choral and congregational mass settings.
