Join us on Sunday, October 6th at 12 noon at Granville Dog Park (corner of West 14th Avenue and Pine Street) for a special event that celebrates the animals who bless our lives. The Blessing of the Animals is a cherished tradition rooted in the life and legacy of St. Francis of Assisi, a 12th-13th century preacher, poet, healer, and the founder of the Franciscan Order. St. Francis is remembered for his deep connection to all creatures, living in harmony with them and celebrating the sacredness of all life.
At Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace, we are excited to carry on this tradition, embracing a spirit of inclusivity and openness to people and practices of many faith backgrounds. The Blessing of the Animals is a family-friendly and fun event that celebrates our beloved pets as integral members of our families. Whether you have a furry friend or another kind of companion animal, this is the perfect time to gather, celebrate, and receive a blessing for your cherished pet.
There will be treats for both humans and pets, and our ministry staff will be present to offer individual blessings to your pet friends. This event is open to all, and we encourage everyone to come out and take part in this joyful celebration of the creatures who bring so much love and happiness into our lives.
We hope to see you there!
