KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Carolyn Kristjánsson is Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at Trinity Western University in BC where she teaches in the resident and online MA TESOL programs. She has experienced international relocation and language learning as both a child and adult and has taught in various types of English language programs in ESL and EFL contexts. Her publications include research on identity and interpersonal dynamics in church-sponsored ESL and online graduate education in TESOL. She loves to connect with students and program providers in church-sponsored ESL programs.

Kathryn Rockwell has almost 20 years’ experience with adults in settlement language and English for the Workplace classes. She is a lead trainer for the revised Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) and a certified CLB 7-10 assessor. Kathryn is currently Instructional Resource Coordinator with LISTN (Language Instruction Support and Training Network) providing resources and professional development to LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) teachers throughout BC. Knowing the demands that teachers sometimes face, Kathryn is passionate about equipping teachers with practical tips, tools and resources. Wando Ho drifted away from God for many years. She was brought back to her faith in Christ through Alpha in Beijing. Then, she witnessed how Alpha was used creatively to impact the local and expat in China bringing people to Christ. She joined Alpha Canada as the Director of Chinese initiative in 2009 and serves churches who reach out to Chinese and multi-ethnic communities.
Angelita, a former elementary school teacher, has taught Bible lessons with English language learners for more than 25 years in churches and homes. She organized an English drop in lesson program at a community centre in Coquitlam.
Janice GT Penner has facilitated the metro-Vancouver ESL Ministry Network since 2006. She has supported faith-based ESL programs for most of her career since 1984. She has taught English in Edmonton, Vancouver, Beijing, Taipei, and Kyoto.
