What is this series about?

Business By the Book has consistently delivered keynote speakers who provide an uplifting and encouraging testimony of their faith journey and the impact that Christ has made in their personal lives and professional careers.

But in fact, no man or woman walks through life’s journey alone. There are always others involved. And so, the relationships between God, man, and his fellow man (be it a significant other, a friend, or business partner) are worth exploring.

Who will be speaking?

This new series will be taking place every first Wednesday of the month, and will run for 3 months – September to November.

September 3, 2014: Howard & Michaela Olsen, Entrepreneurs

The real story behind these two successful entrepreneurs is not all glamour, but the hard-hitting reality of life and death.  We invite you to witness their incredible ordeal through endless battles of personal survival, defeating insurmountable odds, and the struggle to remain in faith through it all.  This is a tale of resplendent triumph that you will not soon forget.

October 1, 2014: Dan Ko, VP Finance (Ipsos) & Brooke Ko, Senior Tax Manager (PwC)

Come enjoy a light-hearted and humorous discussion with a former schoolyard bully turned Vice President of Finance, and one of PwC’s most knowledgeable tax specialists who came to Christ through the Alpha program.   With unique stories of faith and salient miracles, this Vancouver power couple will leave you encouraged and convinced that your past can’t hinder your future.

November 5, 2014: Stephen Rea, CEO (CBD Investment Corp.) & Kristine Rea, Psychotherapist (Vancouver Couple & Family Institute)

Stepping out and doing it boldly, as a professional or entrepreneur, and as a couple in faith – we’re going to experience the life of a couple who’s faith is so strongly interwoven with the fabric of their careers that even the name of Stephen Rea’s private equity firm reflects the assiduousness of Christ.  You won’t want to miss this grande finale to the series!

What are some topics that will be discussed during this series?

  • What significance has a common faith had on your relationship, and further, your individual professional lives?
  • How does having a partner (spouse or business) affect your walk with Christ and your professional career?
  • What were some significant challenges you faced in general, and how did your faith and relationship play a role?
  • Where does Jesus factor into this relationship? And how is He significant?

This new series will add that critical dimension to professionals who walk in faith, and walk in faith with others. It will shed light on the significance of Christ in these relationships, and demonstrate how Jesus can be seen at work in two people’s lives so closely connected.
