True community is a beautiful and precious thing, and unfortunately not a reality for many people in our city. Whether it is due to lifestyle, gender, socio-economic status, or ability, far too many people around us struggle to make the connections that they want and need to live a fulfilled life. Fortunately, there exists a place where differently abled people can live together in harmony and friendship.
L’Arche Greater Vancouver is a registered charity dedicated to creating homes and day programs in which people with and without developmental disabilities live, work and discover faith together. With over 40 years of experience in fostering inclusion, understanding and belonging, L’Arche is committed to the physical, spiritual and emotional growth of men and women living in these homes and sharing their lives with each other. Beyond Vancouver, L’Arche International works in 37 countries on 5 continents.
City in Focus warmly invites you to join us as we sit down with some of these incredible friends of ours to chat about how community and inclusion has changed the lives of many different people from different walks of life, through sharing faith and embracing uniqueness.
