This Season of Creation gathering brings together artists, activists and faith leaders to address the climate emergency – because our individual efforts will have greater impact when we support each other and work together.

The day begins at 9:30am.

Neworld Theatre will present segment from Eye of the Beast, a performance piece presenting the stories of climate change survivors in a trauma-informed way. Eye of the Beast is a collaboration with the University of Victoria’s teaching newsroom.

The afternoon features the Vancouver premiere of  “Point of No Return: First Nations Leading Climate Change Resistance , a documentary exploring how Canada’s First Nations are leading the fight against destructive pipelines. As well there will be screening of Liz Marshall’s film Water on the Table.

Reuben George, author of It Stops Here, and activist Judy Redhummingbird Wilson will speak from their experiences. Water activist Maude Barlow will join the conversation via Zoom.

There will be intentional time in between sessions for informal gathering, and plenty of conversation sparks aimed at getting participants to “converge” their efforts to address the climate emergency. While lunch is not provided, a variety of food trucks will be on site offering a variety of menu options for purchase.

This is a free event, but we do ask you to RSVP for planning purposes, via the link below.
