ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Carolyn is an accomplished musician, author, columnist, College instructor, and public speaker, who has received numerous awards and accolades for her music and writing, including 2 Dove Awards and 3 Juno Nominations. In addition to maintaining her busy touring and speaking schedule, she is also the Director of Education for Renovare, an organization that encourages and nurtures spiritual renewal. Her music is always uplifting and her stories entertaining.
Steve is a pastor and musician, who previously served at St John’s Vancouver, but more recently at Holy Trinity Platt, in Manchester UK. He has regularly led worship at the Keswick Convention and Spring Harvest in the UK, and worked with the BBC on a number of occasions, speaking and singing. Steve has also worked with Roy to produce a number of albums, and he is delighted to return with his wife Rachel to Vancouver – one of his main places of inspiration.
Spencer is a multi-instrumentalist who has produced 3 albums, including “Plays Well With Others”, which perfectly describes his “super power”. He has worked with Roy and Steve, and toured with Carolyn for many years. Anyone who has seen Spencer perform will tell you he’s amazing — equally proficient on violin, mandolin, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and the always-intriguing bouzouki.
Roy is an award winning music producer/engineer/composer, public speaker, writer, and owner of the Whitewater Productions music studio in Surrey, BC. Another multi-instrumentalist, Roy often plays percussion, bass, acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards and piano (do we dare add, the accordion?). In addition, he sings on many of his projects, as well as hiring some of the most in demand session musicians Canada has to offer. He has known and worked with Carolyn, Steve and Spencer for many years.
Katie is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who released a Christmas single (‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel’) in December 2014, followed by her debut album, ‘Home’, in 2015. She is just finishing her second year of Postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she has been working on her next album, due to release in 2020. Katie has accompanied Maddy Prior live on BBC Radio Cumbria, and supported artists such as Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker (BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Winners-Best Duo), Treasure Fields, The Travelling Band and John Bramwell of I Am Kloot. She is coming all the way from Manchester to join Steve for this benefit concert, and a short holiday in Vancouver, of course.
