The event begins with a catered rooftop reception at the Vancouver Art Gallery. During the reception, guests will also be allowed to circulate through the top two floors of the gallery for a private viewing of the collection.
Makoto Fujimura will then give a talk about his process and his work, followed by a question and answer period.
An artist who has spent years learning and perfecting traditional Japanese crafts and expressions, Mr. Fujimura creates his own technique, simultaneously embracing and altering traditional methods. Born in Boston and raised in Japan and the United States, he is simultaneously a practitioner and critic of multiculturalism.
The Vancouver Art gallery will be closed to the general public during this exclusive event.
