The volunteers of the Surrey Alliance Tax Service in conjunction with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program are excited to be able to provide FREE TAX HELP to individuals, couples, families, seniors, aboriginal peoples, new comers to Canada and students who have a modest income and a simple tax situation for another tax season.
A modest income is based on family size where your total family income is less than the amount shown in the chart below.
Family Size Total Family Income
1 Person $35,000
2 Persons $45,000
3 Persons $47,500
4 Persons $50,000
More than 5 Persons $52,500* (*plus $2500 for each additional dependent)
Generally a tax situation is simple if your income is from one of these sources: Employment, pension, CPP, OAS, disability, employment insurance, social assistance, support payments, RRSP’s, scholarships, fellowships bursaries, grants, interest(under $1000)
PLEASE NOTE – Your tax situation is NOT simple if you: Are self employed or have employment expenses, have business or rental income, have capital gains or losses, filed for bankruptcy or completing a return for a deceased person.
