ABOUT THE LECTURE
Happiness (and the lack of it) is big business. It motivates a huge industry, advertising, self-help, and much therapy. Being happy is a big focus of human life—and has been for generations. The Bible actually has much to say about happiness, particularly in the Psalms, yet we rarely teach or preach about happiness as a Christian concern. What do the Psalms have to tell us, and how can they help us shape a distinctively biblical vision for happiness?
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Isabelle Hamley is a theologian, speaker, author, and broadcaster who has both worked in the criminal justice system in the UK and served as chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury. She is a regular broadcaster on the BBC, exploring how faith helps us reflect on current affairs.
Dr. Hamley is teaching Being Human in God’s World: How the Old Testament Helps Us Understand Our Humanity in a Complex & Broken World from July 15 to July 19 as part of Regent’s 2024 Summer Programs.
