This evening performance-lecture explores insights from jazz improvisation for understanding and exercising leadership in the church and in society. Hear and discuss key elements in the complex and vibrant dynamics of improvisation that suggest new ways of framing what leaders do, how leaders are formed, and how communities flourish. Mark Glanville and friends will play jazz, and Mark and Jeff will present a dialogical lecture that blends theology with leadership theory and practice.
Mark Glanville is a scholar-pastor who ministers in a missional urban community, Grandview Calvary Baptist Church, Vancouver. Mark is also Professor of Old Testament and Congregational Studies at the Missional Training Center, Phoenix. Mark is a trained jazz pianist and enjoys thinking and writing collaboratively with his wife, Erin Goheen Glanville.
Jeffrey P. Greenman is President and Professor of Theology and Ethics at Regent College, Vancouver. His teaching and writing focus on Christian ethics, the history of biblical interpretation, spiritual formation, theological education, leadership development, and global Christianity. Jeff is the author of numerous books, and is a frequent speaker at churches and conferences.
