Journey Home Community Association (JHC) began in Metro Vancouver in 2005 as a “family business” with a very low budget, mostly funded by a few committed volunteers, a committee of three people, two housing suites and two families from Mexico and Afghanistan.
Ten years later JHC has gone through a major transition, as a registered charity, with an office in Burnaby (the epicenter for migrants), and a broader and expanded vision to meet the needs of hundreds of refugees who are claiming asylum in this part of Canada each year.

Journey Home Community currently helps 12 new families per year with transitional housing (apartment suites in Burnaby and New Westminster) and have supported over 400 refugees from close to 40 different nations over the past 10 years with resettlement assistance and permanent housing. The numerous volunteer teams come alongside families and provide relational support so necessary at this point in their journey.
