With the success of last year’s CBCMusic.ca Festival in Toronto, we’re pleased to bring this year’s edition of the festival to another great musical city: beautiful Vancouver, B.C.
The second annual CBCMusic.ca Festival, hosted by CBC’s Jian Ghomeshi, will take place Saturday, June 14, at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, a short drive (or transit/bike ride!) from downtown Vancouver.
We’ve got a day of great music planned, featuring 2014 Juno Awards winners Tegan and Sara, Spoon, Arkells and several other great acts from the West Coast and beyond.
Plus, this will be your first chance to see the winner of the 2014 Searchlight contest live!
*******************************************
After stiff competition from musical acts across Canada, Lauren Mann and the Fairly Odd Folk have won CBC Music’s Searchlight competition.
The Calgary-area alt-folk troupe and its song I Lost Myself have triumphed in the annual contest to discover the country’s best new musical act, beating out thousands of artists in different genres — from hip hop to indie rock.
As the 2014 winners of Searchlight, the band will be the opening act at this year’s CBCMusic.ca Festival, taking place in Vancouver on June 14, and receives $20,000 worth of musical equipment from Yamaha Music Canada.
