Lights for Liberty is an event taking place on the unceded Coast Salish territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We deeply thank our hosting nations.
We invite you to join in Vancouver, an international vigil event to protest incarceration of children at migrant detention centres. This is in solidarity with the Lights for Liberty vigils being organized across the U.S. to protest the horror of the concentration camp system for migrants and refugees.
From the international organizers:
“On Friday July 12th, 2019, Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps, will bring thousands of people to locations worldwide as well as to detention camps across [the United States], into the streets and into their own front yards, to protest the inhumane conditions faced by refugees. A silent sea of candles will light up the nation.”

We would also like to urge Canadian politicians to take a stand against the egregious and blatantly inhumane treatment inflicted upon refugees at the hands of the United States. Speak up or go down in history complicit. We also request the immediate realese of 110 children currently held at Canadian Detention Centres across the nation.
SCHEDULE:
7pm-8pm: Speakers.
8pm-9pm: Lighting of Candles. Walk to the Trump Tower.
