Our free summer Evening Public Lectures feature a wide range of professors, both guests and Regent regulars. Enjoy delving deep into a pressing issue with a wise guide; then brave the mic to ask your burning question. Better (and cheaper) than a night at the movies.
Due to closure of the College related to Covid-19, all of our Summer 2020 lectures will be streamed online.
Lecture Description: In a time of border walls, Brexit, immigrant children separated from their parents at the border, rising nationalism, political and social polarisation, and increasing racial disparity, the church has the opportunity to demonstrate a radical alternative social order. But why is the church too often mirroring the divisions of our culture rather than resisting and challenging them? In this fast-paced interactive lecture, Dr. Kandiah offers a fresh model for discipleship, mission, and political engagement.
Krish Kandiah is the Founding Director of Home for Good, a young charity seeking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children. Together with his wife, Miriam, he co-authored a catalytic book, “Home for Good,” which applies the story of God to unique challenges of our time. In recent months Krish has been significantly involved in the escalating refugee crisis, campaigning through Home for Good to secure homes for 3,000 refugee children. Krish is Honorary Vice President and Chair of the Theological Panel of Tearfund. He has a passion for engaging with contemporary culture theologically and is a prolific writer and blogger. Krish has authored 10 books and his latest award winning publication “Paradoxology” explores why Christianity was never meant to be simple. Krish holds degrees in Chemistry, Missiology and Theology. His PhD is from Kings College London and he currently holds faculty positions at George Fox Seminary and Regents Park College, Oxford University.
Dr. Kandiah will be teaching the course Shine Like Stars–The Lost Art of Christian Witness from July 6–10, 2020 as part of our 2020 Summer Programs.
