Lecture Description: Ambrose of Milan and Augustine of Hippo called for greater intentionality in our worship on a critical question: What does it mean to worship God as triune? And how can our awareness of the Trinity be woven into the contours of our shared liturgies? In this lecture, we will examine how we come to know God as triune––not so much through doctrinal formulations as through a real time encounter with the God who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Gordon T. Smith is the President of Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta as of August 2012. He continues to teach courses at Regent College topics such as spiritual practices, conversion, and discernment. He previously served as the Academic Dean at Regent. He is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. His recent publications include Institutional Intelligence: How to Build an Effective Organization (IVP Academic, 2017), and Evangelical, Sacramental, and Pentecostal: Why the Church Should be All Three (IVP Academic, 2017). He is married to Joella and together they have two grown sons.
Dr. Smith will be teaching the class “Spiritual Discernment” from May 25–29, 2020 as part of our 2020 Summer Programs.
