It seems that everywhere we turn the world is in turmoil. One could say that has always been the case. But it seems that we are witnessing more widespread upheaval, more sinister forms of evil, a greater acceleration of the collapse of any agreed upon moral order. How then shall we preach? And how then shall we pray? Especially, how then shall we pray? By praying the prayers of the New Testament! Prayers prayed in the face of massive turmoil. Prayers that are audaciously bold, shamelessly extravagant, joyfully expressed in superlatives. Prayers that reflect a vision of God that we in our time need desperately to recover. In this seminar we will give our attention to these prayers, and consider how to preach them so that we and our people will want to pray as eagerly and confidently.
