Recent restoration of our Cathedral has drawn much attention from citizens and engineers who recognize this building is a landmark and treasure of our city. Restoration has upgraded it to modern safety standards, so much so, that the Chartered Engineers (CEP) and Structural Engineers (SEABC), are staging a presentation in the Cathedral on Tuesday, 7pm, September 19, to listen to the key people involved in the project.
Ian Birtwell, Meredith Anderson and James Emery will speak on “Technical Challenges encountered during Heritage Restoration and Seismic Upgrades of Christ Church Cathedral,” which focuses on upgrades in the Roof, Spire and Kitchen project, and reveal some challenges from results of earlier upgrades.
Parishioners interested in the technical aspects of the restoration are welcomed to attend and admission is free. For more information, contact Douglas Yee and/or Ian Birtwell, at: [email protected] and [email protected], respectively.
