The work of reconciliation is central to Christ’s invitation to deeper hospitality, not just in terms of the newcomers’ journey of reconciliation as they work through the trauma of their past, but also the work that the church in Canada needs to do as we understand our place in God’s work of reconciling all things to himself. We believe that “all things” includes the newcomers whom he is bringing to us, but we also believe that newcomers to our neighbourhoods have much to teach us about the journey of reconciliation. Phil Wagler is the Global Director of the WEA’s Peace and Reconciliation Network, and can speak to this journey from both a vocational and personal level.
Phil Wagler serves a Global Director of the World Evangelical Alliance’s Peace & Reconciliation Network and Global Liaison for the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. Phil and his wife Jen have been involved in pastoral, college, and mission ministry for over 25 years, have welcomed four adopted children, and now have a Ukrainian family living with them as well as they continue to learn what it means to welcome the newcomer in the name of Jesus.
