Stellaria presents Messiah Up Close, an intimate performance of Christmas highlights from Handel’s beloved oratorio.
After our hugely successful performances last Christmas, it is well on the way to becoming a yearly tradition in Vancouver!
Come experience a fresh new take on a holiday tradition like you’ve never heard before, elegantly scaled down and performed by some of Vancouver’s finest musicians: 12 voices, harpsichord and string quartet.
There will be only ONE performance this year, which will take place in one of Vancouver’s most beautiful spaces, St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church.
Admission by Donation.
There will be a limited amount of tickets at the door – secure your spot by buying your ticket in advance through Brown Paper Tickets!
Local composer, Lloyd Burritt had this to say after attending last year:
“Stellaria’s Messiah at Holy Rosary Cathedral this afternoon was out of this world! Conductor/singer Derrick Christian brought new life to the timeless score. I never want to hear a massed choir perform the Messiah again. Stellaria (only twelve of them), string quartet and harpsichord played with the echo in the cathedral to create a soaring, spiral arc that sparked brighter than fireworks in English Bay on a midsummer night…Stellaria are here to stay. I can’t imagine Christmas without them after this afternoon’s performance.”
