On Monday, Sept 9th Streams of Justice will be hosting the film “Muffins for Granny” – a film that honestly and sensitively presents the residential school experiences of 7 indigenous elders. Filmmaker Nadia McLaren explores these narratives of personal and collective suffering as a way to understand her Ojibway grandmother and the repercussions of residential school in her own family.
We’ll begin the evening with a meal together. Contributions to the meal are most welcome, but certainly not required. The most important thing is your presence.
After showing the film, we’ll engage in a time of discussion and reflection. This is especially relevant in light of the upcoming Truth and Reconciliation events in Vancouver, Sept 16-22.
