C.S. Lewis dedicated Surprised by Joy “To Dom Bede Griffiths, O.S. B.”
Lewis, in the final chapter of Surprised by Joy,called Griffiths “my chief companion…..with whom I kept up a copious correspondence”. Griffiths was, probably, the most important Christian contemplative theologian of the 20th century who engaged in Christian-Hindu dialogue. This lecture will reflect on the layered friendship between Lewis and Griffiths.
