The Sound of Music is the final collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II with book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. It is based on the memoir of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. Many songs from the musical have become standards, such as “Edelweiss”, “My Favorite Things”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, “Do-Re-Mi”, and the title song “The Sound of Music”. This classic and much loved musical was made into a movie in1965 starring Julie Andrews and Canadian Christopher Plummer. It tells how the von Trapp family from age 6 and up stood up to the crushing force of the Nazi regime. It has love, heartbreak, and victory for the oppressed all wrapped into a wondrous tale with great characters and enchanting songs.
Theatre in the Country is proud to present Sound of Music in a unique multi-media format with lots of integrated video projection. It will transport you to the the late 1930’s Austria and make your heart soar as you feel your self walking through Salzburg and the mountains of Austria.

Want to travel as a group? Theatre in the Country offers transportation for groups of 12 or more in our comfy 23 passenger TIC Shuttle for only $15/person! We will pick up any group of 12-22 at the location of your choice within 50 KM of our theatre for this rate. A small per km charge will apply to any pickup point past 100 KM round trip.
