Speaker and facilitator Monica Weis is a Sister of St. Joseph of Rochester and emerita professor of English at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. A long-time member of the International Thomas Merton Society and former Vice President of ITMS. Dr. Weis is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. Her recent books include Thomas Merton’s Gethsemani: Landscapes of Paradise, The Environmental Vision of Thomas Merton , and Thomas Merton and the Celts.

Monica Weis presents an overview of early Celtic spirituality (both monastic and domestic) as well as Merton’s fascination with their imaginative world view and desire for peregrinatio (pilgrimage).
