Join us as we explore the crucial topic of Trauma Informed Response in the Church. This in-person workshop will take place on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Fleetwood Christian Reformed Church at 9165 160 Street, Surrey, BC V4N 2X7.
There are 2 time options to chose from. 12:30-3pm OR 6:30-9pm. Beverages & snacks will be provided at both events.
Trauma, grief, and loss exist in all communities, including churches. Church leaders can provide support & help the hurting in their communities by learning more about trauma, its symptoms & effects. Join us as we explore how to respond in an appropriate, biblical, compassionate manner, creating safe places for people to begin the process of healing – a journey that takes time. Wherever there is trauma, healing is possible. God feels our pain with us, and wants to help us heal.
Whether you are a church leader, volunteer, or simply interested in learning more about trauma informed response, this event is open to all. Come and be part of this important conversation as we strive to create a more informed and supportive church community.
Participants will:
• Learn about trauma.
• Hear what the Bible has to say about it.
• Learn how to recognize the symptoms of trauma in themselves and others.
• Gain an understanding of the 3 most common ways trauma presents itself in people’s lives.
• Find out how to respond to people who are hurting without causing further harm, and learn practical steps that may help.
