Retrouvaille is a Christian peer ministry but ALL married couples, regardless of faith or belief, are embraced. The cost of the program is very competitive in comparison to other similar programs. The requested donation for the entire 8 week program is $850 per couple; however, NO couple is ever turned away for lack of funds.
Vancouver Retrouvaille serves all of BC and is also frequently attended by Northern Washington couples, as well as couples from many other locations. The program consists of one full weekend and seven half-day weekly follow up sessions, held on Sunday afternoons. There are two programs per year in the Vancouver area in the Spring and Fall. The initial weekend is usually held at a hotel in the White Rock area and the follow-up sessions are usually at a church in Langley, near the Trans-Canada Highway.
The weekend begins at about 7:00 P.M. on Friday evening and ends about 5:00 P.M. on Sunday evening. Couples are required to stay at the facility for the entire weekend. The seven post sessions are held on Sunday afternoons following the weekend over 7 – 9 weeks (depending on holidays). The follow-up sessions are a very important part of the program and couples are urged to attend all in person; however there are options for telephone or internet attendance for couples who live too far away.
During the weekend and follow-up sessions, couples learn techniques for communication and do exercises together to work on the concepts of trust, forgiveness, commitment and love. Each couple’s confidentiality is strictly maintained.
What Retrouvaille is Not:
This is not a group counselling session, therapy or a retreat. It is a program in which couples work individually, not as a group, on the techniques provided by the presenters. All presenters are couples who have been through the program themselves and volunteer their time because they strongly believe in, and have experienced, the ability of the program to repair marriages.
