Requiem, Motet & Anthem
This concert will feature a chamber performance of Gabriel Fauré’s much loved “Requiem.” Andrew Greenwood will be the Baritone Soloist and Bahareh Poureslami, Soprano, will sing the “Pie Jesu.”
We start with one of Monteverdi’s famous Vespers, then pay our respects to our namesake with Vivaldi’s Laudate Dominum and Laetatus Sum. Our tributes to Johan Sebastian include the Motet – Komm, Jesu, Komm followed by Jesus Bleibet meine Freude.
We next visit Elgar and perform two of his sacred part songs written in 1888. Gabriel Fauré began to write his “Requiem” in the same year; the completed revised work was presented with full orchestra just before the turn of the century.
The Choir will be accompanied throughout by Organ & Strings
