ST PAUL’S HOSPITAL PRESENTS
WHEN PRAYER SHOWS UP
EXPLORING PRAYER IN HEALTHCARE
We are pleased to extend a warm invitation to an upcoming seminar hosted by our friends at St. Paul’s Hospital featuring the work of an international research team, on the expression of prayer in healthcare settings.
The team is co-led by Dr. Sheryl Reimer-Kirkham (Trinity Western University) and Dr. Sonya Sharma (Kingston University London), along with researchers from Sarum College, Kingston University London, University of Ottawa, University of Victoria, University of Evansville, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Trust, and Providence Health Care (Dr. Christopher de Bono).
The study has engaged over 90 spiritual health practitioners, healthcare professionals, administrators, volunteers, and patients in London and Vancouver to examine how prayer is manifest—whether embraced, tolerated, or resisted—and how institutional and social contexts shape how prayer is understood and enacted.
The seminar will feature four short “TED” talks by leading scholars on various aspects of religion and prayer in public settings, panel responses from local and visiting colleagues, and opportunity for discussion. Light refreshments will be served. Please rsvp to Elizabeth Turtle by August 20th at [email protected]
