The Metro Vancouver Alliance (MVA) is holding a Municipal Election Assembly with the candidates running in the upcoming municipal election.
Together with hundreds of community members from across Metro Vancouver, MVA will ask Vancouver’s mayoral candidates to make public commitments to work with our Alliance on four key priorities:
- Community lands for community homes – Pre-zone faith, community, and non-profit-owned land for affordable housing development.
- Dignified homes for all – Work with the Metro Vancouver Alliance to advocate for $2 billion in federal funding for deeply affordable housing.
- Safe, connected, and livable communities – Commit to adding an articulated bus lane on a portion of Hastings Street to improve transit.
- Future-ready jobs for youth – Launch Vancouver’s first Youth Climate Corps to create meaningful employment while expanding the city’s urban tree canopy.
This is a unique opportunity to hear directly from the mayoral candidates as they respond to these proposals and make clear, public commitments to our communities.
The Municipal Election Assembly is more than a political event; it is an opportunity for our organizations to stand together, demonstrate the strength of our collective voice, and help shape the future of our city.
This event is open to members of MVA. The Diocese of New Westminster is a member. As such, members fo the diocese are welcome to attend, but must register via the Diocesan Justice & Peace Unit. If you would like to attend please contact the chairperson of the Justice & Peace Unit, the Rev. Margaret Marquardt.
