Join us Friday, February 2nd for a special movie screening at Tenth Church Mt Pleasant location! We’re excited to invite you, your family, and friends to a community evening filled with film, fellowship, and fun.
We’ll be showing the movie “Sight,” a remarkable Christian film that beautifully intertwines faith, work, and science in a compelling biopic. This film is not just a watch, it’s an experience that will inspire and challenge your perspectives.
Special Highlight: The film was shot right here in Vancouver. Dr. Ming Wang, one of the producers and the person whose story the film is based on will be there for a live Q&A session afterwards.
What’s a movie without snacks? Enjoy complimentary popcorn and refreshments as you settle in for a night of cinematic adventure. This event is more than just a movie screening; it’s a chance to connect with our community and to engage in meaningful conversations.
Everyone is welcome! Whether you’re a movie buff, looking for a family-friendly outing, or simply interested in exploring the integration of faith in everyday life, this event is for you.
Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to watch a film with a message, right here in our community. Bring a friend or a neighbour, and let’s enjoy this special evening together.
** The movie is currently un-rated as it has not reached the theatres yet. The organizers did mention that it may not be suitable for children under age 10 due to its length and serious themes. The family room (with live feed of the movie) will be opened to accommodate families who need to come in and out.
Synopsis: SIGHT, starring Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning Greg Kinnear and Terry Chen (Almost Famous, Falling), is based on the true story of Dr. Ming Wang, a poor Chinese immigrant, who defies all odds to become a world-renowned eye surgeon in the United States. Set in 1970’s rural China, a young Ming faces persecution and despair at every turn, but through the support of his dedicated family and his own unwavering determination, he finds his way to America, attends Harvard and MIT, and helps develop an innovative technology that restores sight in millions. Taking on the seemingly impossible challenge of helping a blind orphan, the resilient Dr. Wang must reconcile with his traumatic past and face the harsh reality that the strength of his own will can only go so far.
