In his new book, The Name of God is Mercy, Pope Francis describes “the Church that goes
forth” as a field hospital for “those who are wounded, who are in need of an attentive ear, understanding, forgiveness, and love.” This is a message of hope for the migrants from war-torn countries who are arriving in droves on the European shores – and now Canada. To indifference, suspicion, and hostility, the pontiff contrasts God’s unreserved mercy as the fulfillment of justice to answer the growing migrant crisis worldwide.
