“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” (Isaiah 1:17)

Join this 2-Session webinar with Justice Mobilizer Cindy Stover from the Centre for Public Dialogue and Dena Nicolai, Refugee Program Associate with World Renew.

When you speak out, you reflect the biblical call to work towards a just world where structures and institutions give all of creation the opportunity to thrive! Advocating for just and compassionate ways to welcome refugees during the pandemic can make a real difference in how many refugees are able to travel to Canada this year.

In the first session on May 4th, you’ll learn how to develop a clear and effective advocacy message to support refugees, which you can then use to write a letter or email to send to your elected official. By the end of this 2 hour session, you will have a completed advocacy letter to send!

In the second session on May 11th, you’ll learn how to request a meeting with an elected official, what to expect and how to prepare, and how to develop a meeting outline with clear, effective talking points. By the end of this 2 hour session, you will be prepared with all the skills and materials you need to book an advocacy meeting, and have your voice heard by your elected official!

We encourage everyone to participate in both sessions if possible, while understanding that some may be intimidated by the idea of meeting in-person with their elected officials. However, our experience has been that in-person meetings can be one of the most direct and effective ways to see real change! In-person meetings are also a great way to build a strong, long-term relationship with your elected official, making it clear that you want to partner with them for the common good of your community.
