Christ Church Cathedral Mental Health Ministry invites you to an educational day about mental health in our faith communities. Keynote speakers will share their experiences of living well with and/or supporting a person with a mental illness diagnosis. In the afternoon you will choose from 5 workshops in which facilitators will expand upon the keynote address and further: 1) discuss issues related to having a mental illness diagnosis; 2) discuss providing care and accompaniment to someone with a mental illness; 3) demonstrate and coach on the skills of listening and responding to people who are different from us; 4) discuss the similarities and differences between depression and spiritual lassitude (acedia); 5) discuss how to start a mental health ministry in your faith community.
Lunch with vegetarian and gluten-free options will be provided. Please note that there are no refunds with cancellations after April 28, 2018 because of our commitment to host the event.
