Description
The main music on this year’s annual Good Friday concert is the Fauré “Requiem” – one of the landmark works of the 19th century – performed in the composer’s intimate original orchestration based on the warm sound of all those violas. The Baroque works are also very special: the touching “Seven Last Words from the Cross” of the German master Heinrich Schütz and the tragic story of “Jephtha’s Daughter” by his Italian counterpart Giacomo Carissimi, including one of the greatest lamentations of all time.
